Art enthusiasts and park-goers in Las Cruces should prepare for a slight change of scenery and routine as Buena Vida Park, located at 3000 Buena Vida Drive, gears up for a new addition to its public art collection. Starting November 3, the City of Las Cruces Quality of Life Department Public Art Program will kickstart the installation of the foundation for a brand-new public art sculpture. The city's announcement indicates the work will see closures in the park’s picnic area and adjacent sculpture location.
This installation isn't looking to be a drawn-out affair. The cement foundation is expected to be prepped and ready in the span of six days, wrapping up on Saturday, November 8. While no details on the sculpture itself have been released, the prompt construction schedule suggests park visitors won’t have to wait long to see the results of the interruption. Visitors, meanwhile, are advised to keep their distance from the work and staging areas for their own safety, according to the City of Las Cruces.
