A North Carolina man with connections to the local rodeo circuit has been arrested for allegedly assaulting minors across three counties, leveraging his position in the community to facilitate his crimes. Shane Dalton York, a 33-year-old from Madison, faces a string of felony charges including human trafficking, statutory rape, and indecent liberties with a child, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office. The investigation commenced when deputies were alerted to multiple juvenile sexual assaults earlier this month.
The alleged assaults by York occurred between January and October of this year, with the suspect reportedly using his rodeo involvement to meet and subsequently groom his victims. Investigators from Iredell, Davidson, and Stokes counties collaborated to uncover the scope of York's reported activities, ultimately resulting in his arrest on October 17. Throughout the investigation, detectives determined that the accused had established relationships with minors in all three counties.
