An officer-involved shooting occurred last Saturday night, when an off-duty Atlanta Police officer working at 5 Paces Inn confronted an armed and disruptive patron. The incident took place at 41 Irby Avenue NE in Atlanta.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, the incident began around 11:35 p.m. when the officer responded to a call from the establishment’s security team. The individual attempted to reenter the bar through the back parking lot on 3198 Caines Hill Place and was reportedly armed.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is leading the investigation. The officer was not injured during the encounter.
