The Parsons Police Department arrested Paul Jones on Saturday last week following threats of violence directed at an elementary school. According to the City of Parsons Police Department and Fire Department's Facebook page, a reliable witness reported that Jones made a statement indicating he might take a gun to the school to be taken seriously.
Jones now faces charges under Tennessee Code Annotated §39-16-517, which classifies such threats as criminal offenses. Authorities emphasized the importance of immediately reporting any threats of violence, particularly those involving schools.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Department assisted in the investigation and arrest. Police confirmed that swift coordination between agencies ensured the situation was resolved safely and that no harm occurred.
