A Sprouts Farmers Market is planned to anchor a new shopping center near the intersection of Port Royal Road and Duplex Road in Spring Hill, with the roughly 23,000-square-foot store projected to open in 2027. The project, known as Port Royal Marketplace, would bring the specialty grocer's mix of fresh produce, natural foods and bulk goods to a stretch of Williamson County that has watched new retail steadily fill in around it.
The store is slated to serve as the anchor tenant of Port Royal Marketplace, described as a proposed neighborhood shopping center near that intersection, according to WhatNow. The same report puts the planned Sprouts location at approximately 23,000 square feet, with an opening projected for 2027.
Developer GBT Realty is behind the project, and per Shopping Center Business, construction is anticipated to begin in early 2026 and wrap up in early 2027, following city approvals. That timeline lines up with GBT Realty's other active Sprouts project in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where construction on a 55,273-square-foot, grocery-anchored center is scheduled to start in summer 2026 and finish the following summer, according to REBusinessOnline.
What the New Store Would Offer
The Spring Hill location is expected to include departments covering fresh meat and seafood, a full-service deli, bulk foods, vitamins and supplements, dairy, frozen foods and baked goods, the WhatNow report notes. Sprouts has described its stores as combining a farmers market experience with a full-service grocery store, carrying thousands of products geared toward gluten-free, plant-based, grass-fed and non-GMO shoppers. The Phoenix, Arizona-based chain says its format is designed to make wholesome food choices accessible through everyday grocery essentials alongside specialty products.
The proposed store is expected to generate approximately 80 full- and part-time career opportunities, according to Williamson Source. Those jobs would span the departments planned for the new location, from the deli counter to the bulk-foods aisle.
Conflicting Details on the Shopping Center's Footprint
Reports differ on how much additional retail space will surround the Sprouts store. Shopping Center Business describes Port Royal Marketplace as totaling 46,000 square feet, with 16,000 square feet of inline shops and a 6,800-square-foot shop building alongside the 23,000-square-foot Sprouts. Williamson Source, however, describes the layout differently, reporting that the Sprouts would be flanked by two 8,000-square-foot shops with a third, 6,800-square-foot expansion pad. Neither account has been reconciled, and it remains unclear which description reflects the center's final configuration.
Williamson Source's reporting, drawing on information attributed to the outlet Franklin Is, also notes that GBT Realty said plans were officially submitted to the City of Spring Hill on August 18, according to Maury County Source, though that account does not specify the year of the submission.
Earlier Planning Commission Discussion
A related concept has already surfaced before local officials. At a Spring Hill Municipal Planning Commission meeting, members discussed a concept plan for an approximately 11.70-acre property at the southwest corner of Duplex and Port Royal roads, according to Main Street Media of Tennessee. That report described a proposed grocery store of about 45,000 square feet, roughly 8,000 square feet of retail space, a fuel center and two additional outparcels. It is not established whether that earlier concept and the later Sprouts proposal represent the same finalized plan.
For now, the project remains in the planning stages, with the opening date reflecting a projection rather than a confirmed timeline. Spring Hill shoppers hoping for a Sprouts of their own will need to watch for further movement on construction and city approvals before the 2027 target becomes a certainty.
