This morning, a pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a vehicle in Midtown. The San Diego Police Department reported that the accident occurred around 5:04 AM on the 3400 block of Pacific Highway. Officer S. Foster, the SDPD Watch Commander, stated that a 75-year-old woman was driving southbound when she hit an unidentified male pedestrian who was in the middle of an intersection.
According to the SDPD statement, the driver, behind the wheel of a 2020 Chrysler Pacifica, failed to see the pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Pacific Highway and Sassafras Street. The impact resulted in the pedestrian sustaining multiple serious injuries, including a fractured pelvis, a fractured right femur, an open fracture to the right tibia/fibula, and head trauma. They were quickly transported to a local hospital to receive the necessary treatment.
Following the incident, traffic units responded to the scene and have taken over the ongoing investigation. The current condition of the injured pedestrian remains unclear, as details about their recovery have not been released.
