Drivers in Plantation and Sunrise should brace for upcoming nighttime roadwork scheduled to start on Sunday. The Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division will be milling and resurfacing North Pine Island Road from W. Sunrise Boulevard to Sunset Strip, as part of their efforts to rehabilitate a bridge that's been under construction since May of this year. The project, which aims to cause the least disruption, is being funded by the state gas tax.

According to a Broward County news release, the work will take place from 7 PM to 6 AM in an attempt to minimize its impact on the daily bustle. Completion is earmarked for no later than December 31, although this is subject to change due to weather or other conditions beyond control. Throughout the duration of the project, nightly lane closures will be in effect, but at least one lane each way will remain open.

Local residents and businesses can rest assured that access to properties will be maintained. For information, the Highway and Bridge Maintenance Division is available at 954-357-6040. Additionally, those with specific inquiries about the project can contact Project Manager Stanley Bateman directly at 954-647-6490 or via email at [email protected].

Broward County is asking for the public's patience during these times. "Broward County appreciates your patience as we complete this necessary repair," states the official communication.
