The Plantation neighborhood was disrupted yesterday evening when police responded to reports of shots being fired. According to NBC Miami, multiple individuals were detained in the vicinity of Northwest 6th Street after Plantation Police officers arrived on the scene before 6 p.m. Amidst the ensuing investigation, which has remained markedly active, no injuries were reported.
The concentrated police presence brought the normally tranquil area to an unexpected standstill, with a home listed on Airbnb as an "Italian luxury home" – becoming a focal point. One red Tesla was towed away by officers, who worked for several hours to comb the scene for evidence. Efforts to return to normalcy appeared to briefly strain as at least two men, after being initially detained, were released and opted to reserve comment as they passed NBC Miami's camera setup.
"My brother came home around five o'clock, I think it was. And he claimed he heard some gunshots, which is very rare because this area is super quiet, super relaxed," Carlo Santelli, a neighbor, told NBC Miami. "Before you know it, there's helicopters, there's police activity. I rode my boat over here trying to see what was going on, and they told me, go home, lock the doors. A little scary. Got three young kids. And I'm glad everything's okay now, though."
Details remain sparse. While some individuals were detained, it's currently unclear whether any arrests have been made as of this morning. Even so, Plantation Police have confirmed that no one was hurt in the incident. Simultaneously, WSVN reported that alongside those detained, one person was transported to the hospital due to a medical issue unrelated to the shooting.
