Dr. Barbara Sturm has opened its first Palm Beach spa and boutique at 340 Royal Poinciana Way in Royal Poinciana Plaza, The Palm Beach Post reports. The German skincare brand’s new outpost has four treatment rooms, an AI-powered skin analyzer and a retail wall of its products. Martyn Lawrence Bullard designed the interiors.
Published accounts differ slightly on the spa’s size: The Palm Beach Post gives the space as 1,940 square feet, while project architect Spacesmith describes it as 2,000 square feet. The Post identifies it as the brand’s first location on the island; Dr. Barbara Sturm also has outposts in Miami, New York, Dallas, London and Düsseldorf, Germany.
A Landmark Plaza
The spa is a new tenant in a site with a longer preservation history. In a separate decision, the Palm Beach town council designated the 11.2-acre Royal Poinciana Plaza, which houses the Royal Poinciana Playhouse, as a landmark in 2008, according to The Real Deal.
AI Skin Scans and a PEMF Mat
Inside, the centerpiece is what the brand calls the Sturm Skin Analyzer, an AI-powered device that scans a client's skin and builds a personalized treatment and product plan, according to Haute Living. The Post describes the same tool as an artificial intelligence-powered system that evaluates a client's skin and recommends personalized treatments and products. Beyond the scanner, the spa's wellness menu leans into recovery tech, with red-light therapy and pulsed electromagnetic field, or PEMF, mat technology rounding out the offerings per the Post's reporting.
Treatments include a Thermal Sculpt Renewal Facial, a Super Anti-Aging Facial and an Exosome Facial, Haute Living reports. The Exosome option pairs micro-channeling with the brand’s Exoso-metic collection. The outlet says the brand describes its treatments as supporting skin-barrier function, hydration and long-term skin health.
Martyn Lawrence Bullard's Design Vision
Interior designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard built the space around Palm Beach's architectural past, blending the city's iconic architectural history with Dr. Sturm's elegant aesthetic, according to Modern Luxury. Bullard has said Palm Beach's coastal beauty and architectural heritage inspired the spa's colors and design features, per Haute Living's reporting. Dr. Sturm herself has said Palm Beach is a natural home for the brand's newest spa and boutique, according to the same outlet.
The boutique carries the complete Molecular Cosmetics collection, according to the brand's own Dr. Barbara Sturm website. To mark the opening, Dr. Sturm and Bullard created a limited-edition Palm Beach Kit featuring a curated selection of Martyn's personal favorites from the line, as Modern Luxury reports. Haute Living lists the kit's contents as an Enzyme Cleanser (10ml), the Good C Vitamin C Serum (10ml), a Ceramide Drops Face Oil and Face Cream Rich (20ml).
Shopping the Full-Size Lineup
For shoppers comparing full-size products, Haute Living reports that the Enzyme Cleanser costs $80, the Good C Vitamin C Serum $160 and Face Cream Rich $240.
The spa keeps retail-style hours, open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, per the Post's reporting. The location includes four treatment rooms, according to Haute Living. Spacesmith notes the Palm Beach project follows the brand's Miami Design District opening as part of its broader push to grow its U.S. brick-and-mortar presence.
The timing fits a pattern familiar to anyone who tracks Palm Beach's retail calendar. A commercial real estate blog from the J.M. Phillips Group notes that Palm Beach typically pauses major commercial construction after October 31, a cutoff the site says explains why openings tend to bunch up in late October and the first days of November.
