Portland's airport was thick with patriotism as the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) Honor Guard stood, in sharp salute, to welcome home a group of veterans from their Honor Flight visit to Washington, D.C. This past weekend, the MCSO delivered a reception befitting the valor and service of these individuals, veterans who have etched their marks on the pages of American history.
Last week, 60 veterans embarked on an Honor Flight sponsored by the South Willamette Valley Honor Flight network, as reported by MCSO's news release. This initiative seeks to give veterans, regardless of whether they served in times of peace or war, a chance to see memorials in the nation's capital, erected in their honor. Udvar-Hazy Center at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and the National Army Museum.
