As Portlanders prepare for another day, the National Weather Service has provided a snapshot of what to expect weather-wise in the City of Roses. According to the latest update, this morning's fog should give way to a partly sunny sky with a slight chance of rain this afternoon. However, the predominately cloudy week ahead includes a forecast of persistent showers and the possibility of thunderstorms come the weekend.
Today's weather kicks off with a subtle possibility of rain before 2 pm, followed by a chance for showers in the late afternoon. The infamous Portland fog was dense in the morning, but visibility has since cleared up. Despite the damp start, temperatures are set to reach a comfortable high of 65 degrees. As the fog lifts, Portland faces a 30% chance of precipitation moving into the evening. Residents should anticipate mostly cloudy skies tonight, as temperatures drop to around 50 degrees, maintaining a slight chance of showers before 11 pm and again towards the early morning.
Moving into tomorrow, the overcast continues with another mild high near 65 degrees. The calm conditions could be a brief respite from the more active weather patterns predicted to roll in by the end of the week. By Friday, showers are almost guaranteed, with a whopping 90% chance of precipitation and potential accumulation between a half and three-quarters of an inch.
The weekend's outlook appears laden with wetness and the rumble of thunderstorms, particularly on Saturday where the chance of precipitation holds steady at 100 percent alongside breezy conditions. Saturday night's forecast doesn't let up either, suggesting more showers and potential thunderstorms after 11 pm, with a low around 46 degrees. Going into Sunday and next Monday, the trend of showers and possible thunderstorms during the day remains unchanged, signaling that rainy days are firmly entrenched in the Portland forecast for the time being.
