The Salt Lake City Police Department is currently investigating a fatal incident that took place in downtown Salt Lake City, where an automobile collided with a bicyclist, resulting in a fatality. The Salt Lake City Police Department reported that the distress call came in around 7:29 p.m. on Monday, October 20.
First responders, who included officers from the SLCPD Central Patrol Division, as well as emergency personnel from Salt Lake City Fire and Gold Cross, immediately attended to 59-year-old Scott Hunt, who was critically injured. Despite sustaining life-threatening injuries and promptly being transported to a local hospital by paramedics while crossing the road on his bicycle near 300 West, Hunt later succumbed to his injuries, the Salt Lake City Police Department stated.
The ongoing investigation preliminarily indicates that a westbound car on 500 South collided with Hunt. At this stage, the precise cause and details surrounding the crash remain under review. Supporting the investigation, the SLCPD Collision Analysis & Reconstruction (CAR) Team, along with Crime Lab technicians, was dispatched to the crash site.
