A San Francisco woman, Nicole Malouf, is recovering after being viciously attacked at the Daly City Nation’s Giant Hamburgers. The 31-year-old had just finished her shift at a pastry shop externship and was assaulted near her car late Thursday night. "On her way out, a guy just starts punching her in the face, and constantly yelling ‘keys,’ and punching her and punching her," said Tracie Tang, Malouf’s aunt, per KTVU. Malouf sustained serious injuries, including an orbital fracture, and was repeatedly kicked and punched during the incident.

Following the attack, Daly City police arrested 30-year-old Marc Joseph Buada, who also faces charges in connection with a similar assault that happened less than two days after the attack on Malouf. According to information provided by KRON4, Buada is expected in court today and faces multiple felony charges, including attempted carjacking and assault likely to produce great bodily injury.

The violent episode has left Malouf and her family shaken. "She says, ‘I didn't do anything, Auntie Tray, I was just walking out of the restaurant,’" recounted Tang, in an interview with KTVU. Malouf, who recently graduated from culinary school, is uninsured and facing significant medical expenses due to the attack. In response, her aunt has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover these costs.

"Nicole has faced more than her share of hardships," Tang wrote on the GoFundMe page. The campaign has raised over $28,000 towards a $30,000 goal, which aims to ease the financial burden so that Nicole can focus on healing. Updates on the GoFundMe page reveal that an eye doctor has seen Malouf and, despite the large orbital fracture affecting her eyesight, her condition is slowly improving with the swelling starting to subside and her right eye opening a bit.
