The Sandy City Police Department has released the name of the victim in a fatal shooting that took place Monday night, near 8720 S 90 E in Sandy. The incident, which unfolded as an attempted robbery leading to an argument, resulted in the death of 49-year-old Josh Pectol. As reported by ABC4, Sandy police have not yet made any arrests in the case and are actively seeking a suspect.
Further information provided by Sandy authorities clarified that Pectol was transported to a local hospital, where he, despite lifesaving efforts, died from his injuries. According to KSL, police were dispatched to the area following reports of a robbery at around 8:30 p.m. near Main Street Park. However, the investigation continues as there have yet to be any arrests connected to the shooting.
Sandy PD has called upon the public to aid in the investigation, asking anyone who was in the vicinity of 8530 South to 9000 South and State Street to 700 East between 8 and 9 p.m. on the night of the incident to come forward with any relevant information or video footage. The request, highlighted in a press statement, had been echoed by Sgt. Michael Olsen, who is part of the investigation team, according to KSLTV.
