South San Francisco police have taken a stolen firearm off the streets in a coordinated effort that resulted in an arrest and recovery of additional stolen property. According to a recent Facebook post by the South San Francisco Police Department (SSFPD), their Swing Shift team received a tip about a local transient known to have a firearm stolen in a vehicle burglary at a hotel on South Airport Boulevard.
The Day Shift officers took the reins from there, conducting an extensive search that led them to an encampment on Marco Way. It was there that the suspect, a 30-year-old South San Francisco man, was located. "During a search of his belongings, officers recovered the stolen firearm, stolen items from the original burglary, and additional property tied to other vehicle burglaries in South San Francisco," the SSFPD statement delineated.
The man, whose identity has not been released, faces multiple felony charges following his arrest. He was booked into the San Mateo County Main Jail.
