The quiet of an early Saturday morning in Southeast was interrupted by gunfire on August 2, prompting an urgent response from the Seventh District officers of the Metropolitan Police Department. The incident, which unfolded in the 2400 block of Elvans Road, resulted in one adult female suffering a gunshot wound. Following the officers' arrival at approximately 1:21 a.m., the victim, found conscious and breathing, was promptly transported by DC Fire and EMS to an area hospital with injuries thankfully deemed non-life-threatening.
In the days that followed, an intense investigation spearheaded by detectives led to a break in the case.
