Last Friday, a hit-and-run incident shocked the Haight-Ashbury neighborhood when a vehicle and a scooter collided at the intersection of Haight and Lyon Streets, before the vehicle struck an unoccupied parked car and fled the scene. Two scooter occupants were left injured and transported to a local hospital, the San Francisco Police Department reported. SFPD officers responded to the emergency at approximately 9:50 PM and discovered one victim with non-life-threatening injuries and another with life-threatening injuries.
The subsequent investigation by the SFPD Traffic Collision Investigation Unit (TCIU) led to the identification and arrest of 21-year-old Fatima Zahra Kabira Ghaleb of San Francisco on charges related to the incident, with the suspect's vehicle found abandoned near Page Street and Central Avenue, which led to an arrest warrant being issued and Ghaleb being booked into the San Francisco County Jail on October 10 on multiple counts related to the crime. Although an arrest has been made, the SFPD emphasizes that the investigation into the events of that night remains open and active, and they are calling on anyone with information to come forward.
