Dshante Styles, a man wanted for multiple violent charges including human trafficking, was apprehended last Friday in Miami Beach, with the joint efforts of the local police and the FBI. According to a report by NBC Miami, Styles, 35, had been on the run from Las Vegas law enforcement and was taken into custody following a coordinated operation in Florida.
Styles, possessing a history of severe offenses ranging from armed robbery and sex trafficking to kidnapping, tried to evade capture by fleeing in a rented minivan when Miami Beach police attempted a traffic stop on the 400 block of 10th Street. The chase ended in North Bay Village, where Styles abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was eventually caught after a brief pursuit, as showcased in body camera footage the police released yesterday. "How y’all get on me? I’m confused," Styles can be heard asking an officer during his arrest, as reported by NBC Miami.
The multi-agency operation underscored the enduring power of proactive policing and partnership, as noted by Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne A. Jones, in a statement obtained by NBC Miami. Jones asserted, "This individual posed a significant danger to our community and others across the country. Thanks to the coordination and diligence of our detectives and federal partners, a violent offender is now off the streets."
Further to the fugitive warrant, Styles faces new charges of fleeing and eluding police. The arrest brought to light the extensive criminal record of Styles, shaping a narrative of danger interrupted by law enforcement's vigilance. "Anything from a string of robberies, casino robberies, human trafficking and battery," said Miami Beach Police Public Information Officer Christopher Bess during an interview with Local 10 News, adding that “Mr. Styles somehow thought that Miami Beach was a place to hide out. He was wrong. He came to the wrong city and he was arrested.”
