Last week's Tenderloin district shooting has taken a tragic turn as the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) reported the victim died from injuries yesterday. Initially responding to the incident last Friday, officers found an individual with a gunshot wound at the corner of Larkin and Grove streets. Despite prompt medical intervention, the victim's life-threatening injuries proved fatal after several days in the hospital.
The SFPD, alongside San Francisco Sheriff's Department (SFSD) deputies, quickly detained a suspect, now identified as 42-year-old Edmund Bowen. Bowen was arrested and booked "for charges related to the shooting," according to the official SFPD news release. In light of the victim's death, homicide detectives will be working to update the charges against Bowen to include murder.
Investigators are actively urging anyone with information about this crime to come forward. The SFPD has made multiple avenues for tips available, encouraging the community to reach out at 1-415-575-4444 or to use the Text-A-Tip service, starting the message with SFPD.
