The University of Utah's Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute, recognized for its top-10 ranking in interdisciplinary education, is setting the stage for the inaugural Lassonde Startup Academy, slated for June 2026. This pre-college program is designed for young innovators, ages 14-18, offering them an accelerated experience that could shape their business acumen and leadership skills.
According to At The U, the Lassonde Startup Academy aims to immerse students in the entrepreneurial process. From product creation to market selling, these rising stars will earn a chance not only to learn but to earn college credit. As Scott Holley, the executive director of the Institute, puts it, "We created a high school program like no other to attract the best up-and-coming entrepreneurs from around the state, country, and world," as per At The U.
Participants will reside at the Lassonde Studios, which is not just a living space but a vibrant makerspace designed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. During their stay, students will engage in hands-on product development, launch companies, and learn from seasoned business founders. The program culminates in a demo day event, providing students with a platform to showcase and potentially sell their creations.
Financial barriers are also being addressed, with the Academy offering generous scholarships based on merit and need. Early registration discounts are also available, with a notable $1,000 off for those who sign up by December 31.
