In a tragic turn of events in the Englewood neighborhood early Sunday morning, a pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run incident. Chicago police have confirmed that an adult woman was struck by a car in the 6600 block of South Ashland Avenue, around 2:15 a.m., as reported by WGN-TV.
The vehicle involved, described as a black sedan, was reportedly traveling north at a high rate of speed when it collided with the victim, who sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to information obtained by WGN-TV, the sedan fled after the incident, and as of now, no suspects are in custody. Police have launched an investigation under their Major Accidents division.
Adding to the details of this unfortunate event, ABC 7 Chicago reported that the crash occurred near Ashland Avenue and 66th Street. Officers, who arrived on the scene following a call about a crash involving a pedestrian, found the woman already deceased due to the collision.
