A tragic hit-and-run incident has taken place on I-70 at Adelaide. The victim has been identified as Heather Crews, a 38-year-old woman who lost her life in the early morning hours last Thursday. The authorities have notified her family following the accident, as reported by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
According to the preliminary investigation, Crews was seen climbing over a fence near westbound I-70 and stepped onto the interstate. She waited for the traffic to momentarily clear, and then attempted to cross when she was hit by a vehicle that did not remain at the scene. In a heart-wrenching turn of events, it appears that several other vehicles may have struck her after the initial collision, none of which stopped to provide assistance or alert authorities.
The Accident Reconstruction team is at the forefront of this investigation, meticulously piecing together the events that led to Crews' untimely death. Alongside their efforts, the 6th District Detective Bureau is actively seeking any information on the whereabouts of the drivers involved in the fatal hit-and-run. As of yet, no suspects have been identified and the plea for witnesses to come forward remains urgent. The police are asking anyone with knowledge about the incident to reach out.
