Tara Reid, the actress known for her roles in the "American Pie" series, reportedly experienced a disturbing event at a Rosemont hotel, where she believes her drink was tampered with. According to ABC7 Chicago, Reid shared that she stepped away from her drink at the hotel bar to smoke, returning to find it covered with a napkin. "I was unconscious for eight hours," Reid told ABC7 Chicago. While Rosemont police confirmed they responded to a sick person call at the hotel, no drugging has been confirmed by authorities as of yet.
Early Sunday morning, an ambulance swiftly transported the actress to the hospital from the DoubleTree hotel. Reid told NBC News that her last memory before waking up in the hospital was drinking from a wine glass she returned to find covered unexpectedly with a napkin. Despite cooperating fully with authorities, the spokesperson for Rosemont Public Safety said that there have not been any police reports filed related to the incident, as of their last statement.
A representative for Reid emphasized in a public statement the dangers of such an occurrence. "She also urges everyone to be careful, watch your drinks and never leave them unattended, as this can happen to anyone," the representative shared with People. Reid, who turned 50 this year, has lately served as the CEO of the production company Hi Happy Films, extending her portfolio beyond her acting career.
The ongoing investigation into the matter continues as Reid recovers from the harrowing ordeal. "Tara is recovering and asks for privacy during this traumatic time," her representative stated to People. Meanwhile, representatives for the DoubleTree hotel, where the event transpired, have not yet responded to requests for comment.
