In an unfortunate turn of events in Antioch, a hit-and-run incident resulted in the death of a 60-year-old woman on Marie Avenue and E. 18th Street. The fatal event occurred just after 6:30 PM yesterday, when the woman, identified later as an Antioch resident, was struck by a vehicle that subsequently fled the scene, as confirmed by the Antioch Police Department.
The Antioch officers, along with personnel from CONFIRE, attempted lifesaving measures, but sadly, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was declared dead at the location of the accident. According to the official press release from the Antioch Police Department's Traffic Unit, the identity of the victim is currently withheld until next of kin can be notified, a standard procedure in such tragic circumstances.
