A tragic turn of events unfurled at the Dana Point Condominiums in Arlington Heights, where police discovered the bodies of two maintenance workers who fell victim to a murder-suicide. As reported by FOX 32 Chicago, the police were summoned to the 1500 block of East Central Road at approximately 4:30 p.m. following a distressing 911 call.
Upon their arrival, officers and emergency medical personnel quickly ascertained that both men found in the utility room had suffered traumatic injuries. Despite efforts to fully understand what had driven one man to take the life of another before ending his own, the details leading up to the shooting remain enshrouded in uncertainty. According to a statement obtained by CBS News Chicago, authorities revealed that Juan Medina, a 53-year-old from Palatine, had fatally shot Steven Weigensberg, also 53, from Naperville multiple times before fatally shooting himself.
Even though the specifics of the two men's longtime working relationship at the condominium complex, where they had been employed for approximately five years, were left undisclosed, the Arlington Heights police stressed that the incident was isolated, assuring that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
