Blue Bottle is set to open a new café in San Francisco’s Mission Rock neighborhood next Monday, with the shop taking a ground-floor spot at 300 Toni Stone Crossing, Suite E. The outpost will operate daily from early morning through late afternoon, and the company says this will be its 13th location in the city. The arrival adds another coffee option to the waterfront development just south of Oracle Park.
Blue Bottle confirmed the launch in a news release, and a company spokesperson told SFGATE the team had been eyeing the site for about a year because “it is a vibrant, walkable, and welcoming waterfront community.” The outlet reports the Mission Rock café sits at the base of Visa’s Market Support Center and is scheduled to open on Nov. 10.
Lease and footprint
Blue Bottle signed a 10-year lease for the space at the base of the Visa building, and The Real Deal reported the café will occupy roughly 2,069 square feet. CBRE represented Mission Rock Partners on the transaction while Blue Bottle was represented by Benzi Blatman. That footprint should allow a blend of counter service and a small amount of seating to serve office workers and neighborhood foot traffic.
Mission Rock's retail mix
Developers and leasing brokers have been curating a roster of Bay Area names for Mission Rock, and the project already features spots such as Arsicault Bakery and Flour + Water Pizzeria, according to Hoodline. Leasing coverage in industry outlets frames the strategy as a push to make Mission Rock a seven-day neighborhood that serves residents, office tenants and arena crowds, per ConnectCRE.
Local track record and context
The Mission Rock opening follows a stretch of changes for the chain: SFGATE notes Blue Bottle closed its Oakland site at the historic W.C. Morse building at the end of September and shuttered its Mint Plaza café in 2023. Local reporting also counts the new shop as the brand’s 13th San Francisco location and lists grand opening hours of 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., according to KRON4.
