The Brentwood community is currently on high alert as local police have linked a series of burglaries to the alleged activities of the so-called South American Theft Group (SATG). As reported by FOX 17, the burglaries share a common modus operandi, with the perpetrators typically breaking in between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., a time when many residents are likely out for dinner or running errands.
Belle Meade has also experienced a similar incident, compounding concerns. The Brentwood Police Department (BPD) disclosed that a dark-colored BMW X3, thought to be a model from 2022 to 2024, has been spotted repeatedly circling near the sites of these incidents. In Brentwood alone, the activities tend to occur on Friday and Saturday evenings. The necessity to stay vigilant has become more imperative, as even with several arrests in May 2025 linked to the SATG, the threat persists, as per a statement obtained by WKRN.
Residents are being urged by the BPD to report any suspicious activity they observe, with particular attention to occupied vehicles that are parked and left running. Surveillance footage from one Belle Meade burglary shows suspects entering a home at 6:36 p.m., a detail shared by both Williamson Herald and FOX 17.
Among the safety measures recommended by authorities are to lock all doors, set home alarms, ensure surveillance cameras are functional, and keep lights on using timers. They further advise residents to be cautious about posting their location on social media and to consider installing protective film on ground-level glass. Safes should ideally be bolted to the ground and not placed in common areas like closets, and valuables such as cash or jewelry should not be stored in one location. According to BPD, burglars often access homes through rear doors or windows after entering subdivisions from adjoining neighborhoods, tree lines, or common areas.
The BPD asks that community members share these advisories and to report anything out of the ordinary by contacting them at 615-371-0160. In emergencies, residents should always call 911.
