The crimes, which took place in the 11th (Harrison) District, have been characterized by a notably brash method of operation. According to the police report, offenders are smashing into retail establishments by driving stolen vehicles through entry doors and rapidly making off with clothing and shoes.
Surveillance footage has been made available and can be viewed on the police department's YouTube channel. Among the specifics released to the public, two dates and locations were identified: the 4000 block of West Madison St on November 9, 2025, and the 800 block of North Kedzie Ave. on the following day. The incidents occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 4 a.m. Before the burglars fled the scene in stolen vehicles, wearing all black with black masks, the offenders took the merchandise vigorously.
Authorities have provided offender descriptions which include multiple African American males, estimated to be between 15-19 years of age, and weighing roughly 110-150 lbs. As the Chicago Police seek assistance from the community, they stress the importance of not confronting any potential suspects. Remaining observant without engagement is advised, noting any distinguishable physical traits—such as scars, limps, or distinct dental characteristics.
