Yesterday, a report of gunfire on the I-580 freeway in Oakland disrupted the usual flow of traffic, leaving authorities combing for leads. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Oakland office received a report around 11:56 AM of what appears to be a shooting incident, located specifically eastbound on Interstate 580 at High Street, as per a social media post by CHP Oakland.
Officers were dispatched and promptly arrived at the scene, where they interviewed the victim and one witness to glean what they could about the event, which is believed to have happened a mere 11 minutes before the call was made.
The perpetrator remains at large as the investigation continues. The CHP has issued a public plea for assistance, urging anyone with information to step forward and contact the Oakland Area office, directed to speak with Investigating Officer B. Perez using the phone number (510) 457-2875.
