A Clackamas County deputy shot an armed suspect in a non-fatal incident on Sunday, according to the Clackamas County District Attorney's Office. Deputy Lindsay Bailey, on the force since 2021, responded to a residence on Southeast 362 Avenue near Dee Zee Court after a 911 call about a fire.
As per the Clackamas County release, officers encountered 44-year-old Daniel Dale Zimmerman, who reportedly ignored commands and advanced toward Deputy Bailey. Bailey shot Zimmerman once in the torso. He received medical care at the scene and was transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in stable condition; his injuries did not require surgery.
The fire was extinguished by Clackamas Fire with no additional property damage. The Clackamas County Major Crimes Team, along with Lake Oswego and West Linn Police, is investigating the incident. A grand jury will review the use of force, and no further comments will be made until the process is complete.
