Jermaine Southern, a 27-year-old with a prior conviction for robbery and currently on felony probation, finds himself confined once more after being slapped with charges connected to two armed robberies last week. Southern, alongside his girlfriend Jasmine McKissack, also 27, allegedly pulled off a stick-up on Halloween at a Citgo gas station and later, a similar incident occurred outside LinQ Social Kitchen early last Saturday, morning, according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
Southern is accused of wielding a shotgun at the Citgo, aiming it at the staff and pilfering cash from the register before making an escape in a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo that carried McKissack who appeared on surveillance footage readying a mask and gloves for Southern before the raid at the Citgo, then last Saturdat at the ungodly hour of 4:40 a.m., shots rang out by LinQ Social Kitchen just as a security guard had been accompanying a bartender to her car, when a Monte Carlo came to an abrupt stop and a driver, shotgun in hand, hopped out and fired his weapon while proclaiming the sinister intent of his visit after which a gunfire exchange ensued and Southern was later found with a gunshot wound in his apartment complex, as detailed by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
Investigative efforts led by the Violent Crimes detectives culminated in Southern's identification as the perpetrator of these robberies. Southern and McKissack were arrested earlier this week as they were spotted leaving their apartment on Dickerson Pike. "Southern is charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of attempted robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, and making a false report," outlined the official statement from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department site, Southern presently sits in jail on a $225,000 bond while McKissack faces two counts of aggravated robbery with her bond set at $75,000.
At his hospitalization at Skyline Medical Center following the gunfire exchange, Southern relayed multiple inconsistent tales regarding how he sustained his injuries. McKissack's participation in these deeds may have been substantiated by the Citgo's video evidence, which evidently shows her accompanying the convicted felon as he prepped for what the law sees as his re-entry into a life of crime, the two now await the process of justice while clenched in the grip of the law, as per the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
