The Town of Davie is once again ushering in the holiday season with their annual Lighting of the Greens Festival. Residents and visitors are invited to the pine-studded expanse of the Bamford Sports Complex and Pine Island Park, located at 3801 S. Pine Island Road, to enjoy the festivities scheduled for December 6. According to the town's official announcement, the event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The evening is set to commence with the South Florida Trail Riders' Jingle Bell Horse Parade, marking the beginning of the event at 6 p.m. Following these equestrian celebrations, a tree-lighting ceremony is anticipated to brightly illuminate the park, catering to celebrants across the age spectrum. In a community-focused gesture, collection bins for the Town of Davie Toy Drive will be present, seeking participants to donatively contribute new, unwrapped toys that will ultimately bring joy to over 300 children within the local area.
Revelers at the festival can look forward to a spectrum of holiday-themed activities. These include a variety of games, rides, live performances by the South Florida Cloggers and carolers, and a live nativity scene enacted by New Life Baptist Church. For animal enthusiasts, there will be a petting farm, as well as a chance to get a photo with the South Florida Trail Riders. Adding to the holiday cheer, guests can expect to be greeted by an array of festive characters and Santa Claus making his grand entrance on a fire truck, as mentioned on the town's official website.
Continuing the merrymaking, attendees will have the chance to capture the moment with pictures with Santa Claus, held within the accommodating confines of the Pine Island Fitness and Aquatic Center. Foodies need not fret as a variety of food and refreshments will be available to purchase at the event.
