The peaceful suburbs of Downers Grove were disrupted Friday afternoon following an unsettling incident. A jogger became the target of an unknown man’s unwanted advances, prompting a police search. The alleged battery occurred on Brookbank Road, between Maple Avenue and 55th Street, as reported by NBC Chicago. The assailant, after grabbing the 46-year-old woman's hips, retreated to his vehicle when she screamed and made his escape before the law could intervene.
Responding just before the clock struck three, Downers Grove police officers arrived on the scene of the crime, walking onto an ordeal that had just shaken a resident to her core. ABC 7 Chicago added that after the harrowing confrontation, police have now called upon the community to assist in their search for information or video surveillance that could lead to the suspect’s apprehension.
The police are seeking a man thought to be in his early-to-mid 30s, standing about 5 feet 11 inches tall with short black hair. His attire at the time of the incident: a navy blue t-shirt emblazoned with "SAS" in white letters on the front and back, complemented by black pants and eye-catching white Nike Air Max shoes. The vehicle associated with the suspect is described as a dark gray four-door sedan, marked by a distinctive silver emblem on the back.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone who might hold clues to the suspect's identity or whereabouts, hoping someone will step forward having seen a vehicle not just dark gray in color but matching the suspect's actions. Screens lit by the glow of porch lights flickered throughout the neighborhood as residents reviewed their surveillance feeds, potentially capturing footage of the dark gray four-door sedan with a silver emblem as it whisked the suspect away. Those with any pertinent information are encouraged to contact Downers Grove police at 630-434-5600.
