A fatal hit-and-run crash on Louisiana Highway 700 has led to the arrest of a Duson man, as reported yesterday, November 3 by the Louisiana State Police. The incident, which occurred on the evening of November 2, claimed the life of 28-year-old Tony Barthe Jr. of Rayne.
According to investigation details released by state troopers, Logan Hoke was behind the wheel of a 2020 Ford Edge when he attempted to pass another vehicle on the northbound lane of LA Hwy 700. In the process, Hoke's vehicle entered the southbound lane, fatally striking Barthe who was walking there. Details obtained by Louisiana State Police indicate that Hoke did not stop following the collision but continued northward.
The aftermath of the tragedy saw authorities locating the deceased Barthe at the scene, alongside evidence pointing to the involvement of Hoke's vehicle in the incident. The subsequent investigation led to Hoke’s arrest, and he was processed at the Vermilion Parish Jail for hit-and-run driving resulting in death under LA R.S. 14:100.
