A disastrous collision involving a tractor-trailer and a sedan disrupted the early morning flow on Interstate 24 in South Nashville. The incident, which unfolded just before 2 a.m., resulted in the temporary closure of eastbound lanes at the Briley Parkway junction, as reported by WSMV.
Details from the scene indicate that the driver of a white BMW sedan was attempting to navigate towards the shoulder due to a flat tire when the unexpected struck. As per WSMV, the sedan was rear-ended by a large tractor-trailer, suffering substantial damage. The aftermath of the collision necessitated the redirection of eastbound traffic off the interstate.
The consequences of the early morning calamity resulted in significant injuries. A 27-year-old woman, riding as a passenger in the sedan, was ushered to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with injuries described as serious and potentially life-threatening. According to Fox 17, Metro Nashville Police disclosed that the woman was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
