Edmond’s annual Miracle on 2nd Street festivities are underway, offering a series of holiday events across the town this season. As reported by the City of Edmond's announcement, the thematic celebration tips its hat to the iconic Route 66, which runs along 2nd Street, coinciding with the roadway's centennial in the coming year.
Jennifer Thornton, Tourism Director for Visit Edmond, provided details about the holiday event. "Miracle on 2nd Street is all about creating memories with people you cherish," she told the City of Edmond. The Edmond Ice Rink opened today at Mitch Park, marking the start of the Miracle on 2nd Street events, which will continue through the new year. The Deck the Downtown Tree Lighting event is scheduled for November 13, featuring Santa, live reindeer, and caroling.
Upcoming events in Edmond include Luminance: An Enchanted Stroll at Mitch Park, the Turkey Trot 5K & 1 Mile Walk on Thanksgiving morning, Small Business Saturday shopping events, and free Horse-drawn Carriage Rides on selected dates in December.
Children and families can visit Santa at Citizens Bank downtown or attend an Indoor Farmers Market. Local candle maker Thomas Blonde is offering a ‘miracle candle,’ available at Silver Leaf Gems and Frenzy Brewing, as part of the holiday celebrations.
Organizations and businesses in Edmond are invited to submit their public holiday events for listing on the Visit Edmond website. More information is available on the ‘Miracle on 2nd Street’ page on the City of Edmond’s website.
