
An elderly woman was left with serious injuries following a traffic collision that occurred on Imperial Ave. near Viewcrest Dr. in the Jamacha Lomita neighborhood, according to a statement provided by the San Diego Police Department. The accident, which involved a Volkswagen Jetta and a Ford Excursion, took place yesterday.
In a report released by the San Diego Police Department, at around 10:40 AM, a 89-year-old female driving her Jetta was heading westbound on Imperial Ave when she attempted to make a left turn onto Viewcrest Dr. During the turn, she entered the path of an eastbound Ford Excursion, driven by a 60-year-old male, resulting in a collision. Transported to the hospital, the elderly driver's injuries included two brain bleeds, a cervical spinal fracture, and a fractured orbital.
Officer S. Foster, the watch commander, stated that traffic units have taken over the investigation. The seriousness of the incident has gripped the local community, highlighting concerns about driver safety and the challenges faced by older citizens on the road.
