The Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of a passenger aboard the Carnival Horizon cruise ship as it docked at PortMiami over the weekend. Local 10 reports that the deceased was described only as "a guest," with further details withheld due to the ongoing investigation.
A Carnival Cruise Lines spokesperson confirmed that the case is under law enforcement jurisdiction and information is currently limited, according to WSVN. The Carnival Horizon, which can carry nearly 4,000 passengers, sails routes through the Caribbean from Miami and Galveston, Texas.
The FBI’s Miami office responded to the ship following its scheduled return on Saturday morning. Carnival Cruise Lines is cooperating with federal authorities and assisting the passenger’s family. All inquiries are being directed to the FBI’s Miami public affairs office while the investigation continues.
