
Fort Lauderdale is preparing for the 19th Annual Fort Lauderdale 13.1 Half Marathon and A1A 10K, scheduled for Saturday next week. The event will include parts of A1A along the beach and will bring major road closures throughout the morning.
According to the City of Fort Lauderdale, road closures will be in effect from 4 a.m. to about 11:30 a.m. Las Olas Boulevard will be fully closed from A1A to Seabreeze Boulevard, with additional lane closures on Las Olas Boulevard from Seabreeze to SE 9th Avenue and on Seabreeze Boulevard southbound to Mayan Drive. Both northbound lanes of A1A will also be closed from Mayan Drive to Oakland Park Boulevard.
The race will start on Las Olas Boulevard at A1A, head west to SE 9th Avenue, then return east to Seabreeze Boulevard. Runners will move south to Mayan Drive, then north on A1A to Oakland Park Boulevard before looping back to finish near Seabreeze Boulevard.
City officials advise motorists to expect delays and plan alternate routes. Additional event details and traffic updates are available on the official race website.
