The Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) has a new General Counsel, Jay Miller, whose previous tenure as General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Agriculture has prepared him for this high-stakes role. Miller will now helm the Legal Services and Judicial Development division, playing a strategic part on the AOC's Executive Leadership Team.
"We are excited to welcome Jay to our team," AOC Director Michelle Long said, describing his experience in serving the state government and handling multifaceted legal matters as being invaluable. As reported by the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts, Miller's responsibilities at the Agriculture Department ranged from the enforcement of agricultural laws to leading the Agricultural Crime Unit, undertaking activities peeling away the nuanced legal challenges like layers of an onion.
Miller's path to the AOC was paved by his varied legal experiences, which include stints with the Office of the Tennessee Attorney General and Reporter as well as with a private Nashville law firm, Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC. His academic credentials are equally impressive, boasting degrees from the University of Tennessee College of Law, Lipscomb University, and Vanderbilt University.
