Lake Havasu City took a moment from the daily bustle to salute service members past and present with the annual Veterans Day Parade, hosted by VFW Post #9401. As reported by the City’s official website, the event unfolded on McCulloch Boulevard, beginning at Main Street at 9:00 a.m., on Tuesday, November 11.
Traffic adaptations were part of the day's groundwork, as parts of Acoma Boulevard to Capri Boulevard were sealed off from 7:00 a.m. to around 1:00 p.m., allowing for the parade's passage and the subsequent ceremonial events at Wheeler Park. These adjustments set the stage for a day of remembrance and communal honor.
In tandem with the celebration, it was a day without the usual hum of city offices and the Aquatic Center, all of which were closed in deference to the holiday, as noted by the city announcement. Essential emergency services, such as police and Fire Department operations, maintained their vigilant watch over Lake Havasu, while administrative offices granted their personnel a pause to reflect on the contributions of our Veterans.
Despite the day's solemnity and revelry, necessities like trash and recycling pickups persevered without hiccup, a subtle nod to the endurance of service in all its forms, according to the same announcement, the city’s rhythms are scheduled to return to normalcy as offices and services resume on Wednesday, November 12.
The City's call for heightened awareness during the events of the day was clear, urging those within the vicinity to heed signs, respect volunteers, and follow directions from law enforcement. For Veterans Day, as much for any service member past or present, the gratitude of Lake Havasu City was more than words—it was a day of action, a collective pause, a shared acknowledgment marked by parades and quiet office chairs alike, "To all our veterans and active military, we thank you for your service!!" ended the announcement, with reminders to stay updated through the HavasuNow app and social media channels @lhcazgov.
