The City of Lawrenceville has launched a temporary assistance program to support residents affected by reductions in SNAP benefits or federal furloughs. Funded through the City’s Round-Up Program reserves, the initiative offers a one-time financial aid to Lawrenceville Utilities customers.
As per the City of Lawrenceville release, eligible applicants must be active utility account holders, with the application name matching the account name. Verification is handled through the Lawrenceville Response Center, operated by Impact46. The program uses community contributions from the Round-Up initiative to provide relief to residents facing financial hardship.
City officials emphasized that the effort demonstrates how a municipally owned utility can directly assist its customers. The city also enforces protective measures during extreme weather, suspending natural gas disconnections in freezing temperatures and electricity disconnections during National Weather Service heat advisories.
Residents can apply by scheduling an appointment through the Payment Assistance page. Approved aid will be applied directly to the customer’s utility account.
