
A tragic hit-and-run incident has left a 45-year-old man dead on Chicago's South Side. The man was struck by a van that fled the scene on Monday afternoon in Morgan Park. According to WGN-TV, the collision occurred in the 11700 block of South Marshfield Avenue around 4:45 p.m.
Chicago Police Department responded to the scene following the incident. An offender, reportedly driving a van heading south, collided with the pedestrian and subsequently did not stop. As noted by FOX 32 Chicago, the van continued driving southbound after the impact. The identity of the man fatally injured has not been released.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Despite the efforts of the authorities, no one has been brought into custody in relation to the hit-and-run so far. The Major Accidents Unit of CPD is spearheading the investigation as they work to uncover the identity of the driver involved.
