
A 41-year-old man was injured this morning in a single-vehicle accident in the Mira Mesa neighborhood. The crash occurred when the man, driving a 2016 Dodge Ram, veered off the road and struck a tree on the 9400 block of Mercy Road around 10:25 AM, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The driver, whose identity has not been released, sustained serious injuries and was quickly transported to a local hospital. He is currently being treated for an open fracture to the right ankle and a fractured pelvis. Officials are still trying to fully understand why the vehicle left the roadway and are asking anyone with information to step forward. The Traffic Division of the SDPD has begun a rigorous investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Officer D. O'Brien, the Watch Commander, confirmed that the SDPD Traffic Division responded and is investigating the collision. As of now, they have not provided any updates on the driver's condition or any potential factors that may have contributed to the accident. The area around the crash site was closed for several hours this morning, causing minor traffic delays in the vicinity.
