In a recent incident unfolding in San Diego's East Village, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) apprehended a man suspected of stabbing after a violent confrontation near the City High School Stadium. According to a press release from the San Diego Police Department, officers were called to the scene at 1313 Park Blvd at around 7:59 AM.
The victim, a male, suffered a one-inch laceration to his left upper arm. He told police that the suspect had attacked him while he was leaving the parking lot of the stadium. The suspect was described as a white male in his 50s, wearing a baseball hat, a black jacket, and shorts. Responding officers identified and detained a man matching this description at 1600 C Street, where they noticed a knife protruding from his pants pocket.
In an escalated response, due to the suspect's lack of cooperation and the presence of the weapon, the police deployed less lethal rounds and released a service dog. The suspect, now identified as Hollis Hunt (02/16/67), faced multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and obstructing police. After receiving a medical evaluation, Hunt was booked into the San Diego Central Jail. Further details were left to the SDPD's Central Division, which has taken charge of the investigation.
The public has been urged to step forward with any information that might pertain to the incident. Calls can be directed either to the Central Division or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
