
A Martinez mother has been charged with the murder of her 19-year-old daughter after a stabbing incident that took place at an apartment complex in Martinez, as reported by the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office. The mother, 36-year-old Brittney Evanna Kazee, now faces a felony count of murder, complemented by a deadly weapon enhancement for the supposed use of a knife during the assault. The charges were detailed in an announcement from the Contra Costa District Attorney's Office.
The incident transpired on Tuesday, when officers from the Martinez Police Department arrived at the scene, the 100 block of Fig Tree Lane, around 1:40 PM, following a report of an altercation between two females. Upon arrival, officers discovered Shaniyah Monae Kazee, the daughter, unconscious with a stab wound to her stomach area. Despite immediate medical attention provided by the officers and subsequent care from ConFire resources, Shaniyah was transported to John Muir Walnut Creek hospital, where she ultimately died from her injuries, according to information shared by the Martinez Police Department.
The elder Kazee was arrested soon after her daughter's stabbing and was later booked at the Martinez Detention Facility. Her bond has been set at one million dollars, and she remains in custody pending arraignment. The arraignment is scheduled for next Monday at 1:30 PM in Martinez, as reported by the District Attorney's office.
