For those planning to navigate the city during the Thanksgiving holiday, take note that Miami-Dade Transit will run its buses, Metrorail, and Metromover on a Sunday schedule on Thursday, November 27. This comes as a response to the expected reduction in weekday commuters as families gather to solemnly and joyfully acknowledge their gratitudes. According to a release from Miami-Dade County, normal service will resume on Friday, November 28, allowing residents and visitors alike to promptly return to their regular routines.
Miami-Dade County offices, including all Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) administrative, will be closed on both Thursday and Friday. However, Special Transportation Service (STS) customers can still manage to call the reservation number at 305-871-1111 for necessary trip reservations or cancellations. This was confirmed in a recent article published by Miami-Dade County's official release.
For those who prefer the digital convenience of handling transit services, options remain plentiful even during the holiday closure. Riders can purchase or reload an EASY Card through various apps including the Transit Store, GO Miami-Dade Transit, and other compatible applications. Additionally, new applications for a Golden Passport EASY Card and reports of lost items can be efficiently managed through the DTPW’s online platforms.
Transit users interested in staying updated are encouraged to sign up for alerts at the county's dedicated alerts page or to closely follow DTPW on official social media channels like Facebook, and Instagram for the latest updates. Furthermore, joining Mobility 305's monthly newsletter could significantly enrich their knowledge about local special events, perks, and much more tied to Miami's transit system.
