A violent altercation at a Miami restaurant has led to the hospitalization of a woman after she was stabbed multiple times. The incident occurred at Fritanga Pinolandia on Northwest 119th Street, as captured by the establishment's surveillance footage. In the video, it can be seen that the scuffle quickly escalated when one woman wielded what appeared to be scissors, attacking the other. The manager of the restaurant, Bernardo Ruiz, reported that the two women had been quarreling outside before they entered the premise. "The victim was stabbed at least four times," Ruiz conveyed in a statement obtained by Local10.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office shed light on the motive behind the attack, revealing that the suspect had requested money from the victim prior to the assault. When her request was denied, the situation intensified violently. According to Ruiz, both involved individuals were familiar faces around the restaurant. Unfortunately, this incident underscores ongoing safety concerns in the area. Ruiz mentioned past encounters with crime, including theft and vandalism, that troubled customers and staff alike, according to Local10.
Witnesses observed several patrons, some escorting children, recoiling from the sudden outbreak of violence within the eatery. "All the customers and my co-workers [were] afraid [of] somebody with scissors," Ruiz told WSVN. It's suggested that the altercation might have been sparked by a dispute over money or food given to one of them by a customer. Following the incident, several witnesses contacted emergency services. "We called the police. We called the police. Thank God the police come over, thank God," Ruiz expressed in an interview with WSVN.
The suspect was detained by authorities without any further commotion, and her identity has not been disclosed at this time. While the investigation continued by deputies, the restaurant had to temporarily cease operations, but managed to reopen later for the evening rush. The victim, sustained injuries to her upper extremities, was transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
