
Commander Scott Byrd, a 25-year veteran of the Metro Nashville Police Department, died last Friday after suffering a heart attack last Monday. A funeral service will be held on Friday at noon at Cornerstone Church in Madison, according to the Metro Nashville.
Visitation will take place on Thursday at First Baptist Joelton from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be held on Friday starting at 10 a.m. at Cornerstone Church before the service, as reported by the Metro Nashville.
Commander Byrd, who led several Metro Nashville Police Department units including SWAT, the Bomb Squad, Emergency Contingency, and Marine operations, has died. The Metro Nashville stated, “The MNPD is sincerely grateful to Cornerstone Church and Spring Hill Funeral Home for the support to the Byrd family and the police department during this time.” Information about his services, including locations and directions, is available on the city’s official website.
