The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) has located a suspect wanted in connection with a recent homicide investigation following a violent altercation on Pebble Street. According to details provided by the NOPD News, the incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, at around 9:59 p.m. NOPD's Seventh District officers were dispatched in response to a reported aggravated battery by cutting, which was initially believed to be domestic in nature.
Upon their arrival at the 8000 block of Pebble Street, officers uncovered three adult victims inside a residence, one of whom was unresponsive due to sustaining at least one fatal stab wound. The two additional victims, found with stab wounds, were transported to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries. The NOPD has since identified Chukwuebuka Eweni, a black male born on September 23, 1998, as the suspected culprit behind these violent acts.
Following a thorough investigation by the NOPD Homicide Section detectives, an arrest warrant has been issued for Eweni. He is wanted on charges including one count of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. Authorities have cautioned that Eweni is considered to be armed and dangerous. The identification of the deceased and the official cause of death will be released by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office, pending an autopsy and the notification of the victim's family.
As the suspect remains at large, the NOPD urges the public to remain alert and report any information that might lead to Eweni's apprehension. Despite the chaos that enveloped the quiet block of Pebble Street that evening, leaving residents shaken and seeking answers, law enforcement's efforts continue unabated to ensure justice for the victims and their families. The NOPD has requested that anyone with information on Eweni's whereabouts contact the Homicide Section directly or anonymously tip off Crimestoppers.
